Museum of the City of New York, 'Catholics of New York'
Medium Well builds an interactive mapping tool for the Museum of the City of New York
in conjunction with the exhibition 'Catholics of New York'.
The Museum of the City of New York, in preparing for their newest exhibition 'Catholics of New York',
approached Medium Well to build an interactive map both for the exhibition and the museum's website
that would show the growth and history of the catholic churches and corresponding parochial schools
within the five boroughs of New York City.
Medium Well leveraged and customized the Google maps api to create an effective interactive compliment
to the exhibition. Visitors can pinpoint the school and church of their interest on the interactive
map, and upload photos and personal stories about each school through an easy-to-use upload tool.
An administrative tool allows for a museum administrator to review and approve these contributions
before they are posted to the live site. The system automatically resizes uploaded images to fit
within the design template.
The application was very well received by the Museum directors and the visitors to the exhibition.
It was a popular component of the site and the exhibition.
